In this Community Art Project artist Lani Asuncion guided an exploration of performance art, place-based histories, storytelling, identity, and community. Over eight weeks (July 6 - August 24, 2022) in-person sessions, the group worked to define identity through research on Boston history of site-specific places through embodiment of ritual in the medium of performance. Through the lens of racial, economical, and liberating consciousness, the group investigated how performance is connected to history to explore identity work and create a deeper sense of connection to place in acknowledgment of the past and in the present, and where each performer found themselves and their collective communities. In the end, the group collaborated to create a collective public performance that acclimated work developed throughout the course. Aiming to find points of connection and community healing.
